Bill Albrecht named publisher of Akron Beacon Journal/Ohio.com as GateHouse Media era begins

The Akron Beacon Journal/Ohio.com, now owned by GateHouse Media, announced on Monday it has a new publisher. Bill Albrecht, named group publisher last year in the GateHouse Media Ohio group, was named publisher of the Akron Beacon Journal. He will be based in Akron. Albrecht will continue to oversee the GateHouse Media Ohio group that has properties in Canton, Massillon, Dover/New Philadelphia, Wooster, Ashland, Kent and Alliance. GateHouse also named a new vice president of advertising, Kelly Tremaine, for the Beacon Journal/Ohio.com. Albrecht and Tremaine were introduced to Beacon Journal employees Monday morning. Before joining GateHouse, Albrecht spent 18 years with Gannett. He has been president of Argus Leader Media in Sioux Falls, S.D. Prior to that, he was group president and publisher for the Media Network of Central Ohio and publisher of the Newark Advocate. Albrecht is a graduate of the University of South Dakota.
