As the summer movie season officially came to a close last week, China’s box office was up a strong 16 percent for the year to date. But unlike nearly every other period of the past decade, the boom times haven’t been shared by all in 2018. During the first eight months of this year, ticket revenue for imported foreign films — the vast majority of which are captured by Hollywood blockbusters — fell 18.1 percent.
